You guys already know the winners, so here's what happened before the big announcement. I think I should warn you, tons of photos ahead..

I attended the L'Oréal Colour Trophy 2012 last Thursday a boy was it huge. If you're wondering what it's all about, it is the Oscars of the Hairdressing Industry. The 14 finalists were announced some time in June (post here) and I have waiting in anticipation for the evening.

The theme for this year's competition is A Tribute to Beauty which pays homage to the sucess and tribulations of famous hairdressers with styles that are distinctively French. The competition kicked off with L'Oréal Professionel's 5 Artistic Ambassadors showcasing looks inspired by L'Oréal Professionel Spring/Summer 2012 Colour Collection. The showcase entitled 'Artisinal Expressions', was led by Albert Nico founder of Albert Nico Boutique Salon, Andy Chan founder of Andy Chan Hair Studio, Kevin Woo founder of Centro Hair Salon, Miko Au founder of Miko Galere and Simon Koh founder of Elle Hair Studio, which paid homage to "The Parisian House of Hairdressing".

The story was unveiled in 3 chapters - 'Reto Nouveau' which takes us back to the glorious 50s and 60s, 'La Couture' where it was a celebration honouring the finest and detailed work of the atelier and 'The Parisian House of Hairdressing' where hair, makeup and fashion come together as a single entity in fashion.

L'Oréal Professionel's 5 Artistic Ambassadors
An insanely creative bunch with mind blowing creations!

Talk about spectacular, the show was elaborate, theatrical just amazing. The things that could be done with hair is out of this world. I mean some of the creations are not for the faint hearted and to wear it out on a daily basis would be challenging and a tad if not totally absurd but the impact it had at the show was magnificent.

After the show from the 5 Artistic Ambassadors, the 14 finalists presented their creations to the judges. The creations were cutting edge, forward and evoked a sense of modernity. Some of the creations even phantom next season's trends such as the deep amethyst colour, which was prominent in the hair creations by the finalists. It's fascinating to see how sleek and feminine short hair can look when styled correctly. I applaud you ladies who rock short hair I feel it's a tough one to carry, I tried and it was such a challenge trying to make it work.

While the judges were deliberating, guest hair stylist Caterina Di Biase displayed her hairdressing skills in an entertaining showcase with her interpretation of A Tribute To Beauty. Caterina's creations were very fairy tale like. Amazing colour play! I loved the flaming red hair. It's a good thing red doesn't really suit my skin tone because if it did I would be running around town with that shade.

My Outfit

I'm not sure what triggered it, but I decided to rock the old hollywood glamour look that evening. It had to be that skirt. Yes, it's a skirt. *winks* A lot of people thought it was a dress. Looks like the top and the skirt were made for each other like long lost lovers. *laughs* The dress code was 'Black Tie' but in a hall full of hair stylists, it could only mean anything from a funky suit to a floor length gown. So I figured why not a gold pleated poof skirt.

On nails: Essie Thigh High
It looks even more sexy under the lights ;)
Cocktail ring: MANGO

Make up: Ismie of Lancôme
Hair: by me ^^
With all the excitement I forgot to take close up photos of my eyes. Ismie did a combo of teal and purple for me which looked smashing!
I heard some of L'Oreal's big names had their make up done by Ismie too for the big evening.

It really was a brillant evening. My eyes were glued at the stage the whole time. All 14 finalists were fantastic but I have to say the show case by L'Oréal Professionel's 5 Artistic Ambassadors stole the show. ;) And if you were wondering, there were 40 models involved and 40 looks created just for the show. Congratulations to the winners and thanks loads to L'Oréal Professionel Malaysia for inviting me!
