Get The Look: The Body Shop Winter Trend 2012 - Photos & Swatches

By 22:43 , , ,

The Body Shop Winter Trend / Christmas Collection 2012 is finally in town!! Woohoo!! I dropped by my usual outlet, yes it's KLCC, earlier to check it out.

"The special edition winter make up range will ensure you sparkle and shine all season long. Choose from Smoky Copper or Smoky Moonstone and become a burnished beauty or golden goddess."

There should be 8 pieces to this collection and most of them are already in. The only one I haven't seen is Dazzling Rocks - Golden Copper shimmer beads. This post will lack oomph if I didn't try out the colours right *grins*. So here's a simple look by Azza (my fave TBS make up artist, who is uh-mazing by the way) of TBS KLCC outlet using the Smoky Moonstone Palette and Rose Quartz on lips.

How the colours look under white light...

This look is suitable to go from day to night. It's simple yet polished. Azza used more of the lighter brown and medium brown shades on the lids with the dark brown in the crease for a light Smoky Moonstone look. You can of course go more intense for a dazzling party look. I have fallen in love with that shade of lippie! It's a quiet pop of colour. Azza also applied the latest from The Body Shop, Lychee Lip Gloss to the centre of the lips to get that plumped effect. Here's a video by The Body Shop UK on how to get the Moonstone Look.

The Collection

This collection features two eye palettes - Smoky Moonstone (a cool palette) and Smoky Copper (a warm palette). Compared to last year's holiday collection, this year leans more towards earthy tones. At first look I was naturally attracted to Smoky Copper but after swatching them both, there was no doubt that Smoky Moonstone stood loads more on my skin tone. The shades in each palette is a combination of a satin, shimmery and sparkly finish. The texture of the shadows are smooth and well pigmented. As mentioned earlier you can get a lighter look by applying less layers and just add more for an attention grabbing look. (Retails at RM95 each palette)

As for the Metallic Eye Definer there are two shades available here compared to four as featured in the UK website. The ones I saw were Metallic Eye Definer in Pure Gold and Golden Brown. These eye definers are creamy but is water-resistant once it has set. The Pure Gold is a great shade to apply to the inner of the eyes to make them appear bigger as well as under the brow enhance the brow shape. (Retails at RM32)

Lippies! There are three shades available currently for the Holiday Collection from the Colourglide Shine Lip Colour - Ruby Sparkle (No.12), Rose Quartz (No.13) and Copper Mine (No.10).  Unlike the Colourglide Lip Colour, the shine lip colour has an even lighter texture with a sheer dewy finish. Despite is being on the sheer side, it can easily be layered for a more intense shade. It's also a lot more moisturising. (Retails at RM45)

I'm sure by now you guys have heard and or seen The Body Shop Vitamin Lip Gloss. There are six shades available here. Especially for Christmas there is a trio Vitamin Lip Gloss Set which comes in a fancy tin container. Doesn't everything feel a bit more posh in a tin. The flavours in the set of three are Raspberry, Strawberry and Peach. The texture is a tad thick but non-sticky compared to the Hi-Shine Lip Treatment which I find a tiny bit sticky. (Retails at RM120 for a set of three. It's RM39.90 for a single one.)
