Review: Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturising Lotion+ (Plus)

By 01:39 , ,

Clinique's famous Step 3 has been reformulated since it was first created in 1968, that's like 45 years ago and now promises to work on your skin loads better especially with the current environmental change and varied lifestyles. It also has a slight name change and is now referred to as Clinique  Dramatically Different Moisturising Lotion+ (DDML+). It still retains the iconic shade of yellow.

Just had to share this really cool fun fact on Clinique DDML..

As a result of the reformulation...

  • 54% improvement in skin's barrier strength in 8 weeks without changing the famously silky texture.
  • Double the moisturisation levels for comfortably hydrated skin all day without an extra drop of oil.

The Clinique US team at the Malaysian launch
"You can have the best moisturiser in the world but if your barrier is not intact - moisture evaporates"
- Janet Pardo, Clinique's Senior Vice President of Global Product Development.

The barrier strengthening complex is a blend of sunflower seed cake, barley extract and cucumber extract that helps to strengthen the skin's barrier, imparting resilience and resistance to environmental stress.

Clinique  Dramatically Different Moisturising Lotion+ contains three new moisturising ingredients:
  • Hyaluronic Acid which is proven effective in helping skin hold onto moisture for improved hydration.
  • Glycerin is a well known humectant that attracts moisture to skin and is considered highly "hygroscopic" ie it absorbs water from the surrounding air.
  • Urea is a naturally occurring component in the production of skin's own natural moisturising factor (NMF). NMF function mimic the function of healthy skin.
Clinique  Dramatically Different Moisturising Lotion+ is formulated for Very Dry to Dry Combination skin which obviously means it's not suitable for my skin type. Since I have a preview sample I figured why not try it and find out how moisturisers are like for skin types on the other side of the scale. The texture is so different from the gel variant that I use. Lotion is a lot richer and on my skin it doesn't seem to absorb very well resulting in my face looking super oily. I suppose my skin really doesn't need a thick moisturiser. But on very dry to dry combination skin it's suppose to absorb quickly and gives the skin a healthy glow. So if you fall into this particular skin type or have been using the previous Clinique DDML, try out this one. I'm told it's even better than the previous formula.

Clinique  Dramatically Different Moisturising Lotion+ will be available at counters starting 18th July and is priced at RM68 for 50ml and RM145 for 125ml.

Allergy Tested. 100% Fragrance Free.
