Clinique Pore Refining Solutions Charcoal Mask Review

By 17:52 , , ,

Yup this was a May favourite and still going strong. The new Clinique Pore Refining Solutions Charcoal Mask. It's a first from Clinique and is designed to detoxify the skin of impurities, minimise the appearance of pores and reduce shine with a blend of clays and charcoal powder.

Unclog and Detoxify
  • Charcoal powder is derived from bamboo that acts like a magnet to draw out oils and environmental pollutants to help skin stay fresh, clean and pure.
  • Montmorillonite  is clay rich in minerals that can help draw out pore-cloggers  such as dirt, oil, dead skin cells and other impurities to help minimise the appearance of pres.
  • Kaolin clay helps to absorb dirt and oil to purify and cleanse skin.

Smooth and Under Control
  • Algae extract helps to keep oil from building up in pores and controls excess oil for virtually poreless skin.
  • Caffeine, sucrose and hyaluronic acid leaves skin feeling soft and smooth.

I  have been using this together with the Anti-Blemish Solutions Cleansing Gel and Deep Cleansing Brush last month (review here) and my skin has been behaving, save for the hormonal spot that decided to takeover my forehead. My skin has otherwise been feeling really clean, much less clogged and wearing less base products.

Despite the thick consistency, it's creamy making it easy to spread over the face. You can either use it all over the face, t-zone area of make things more interesting and combine with another mask on a different area. Depending on how my skin is feeling, I have combined this with the Clinique Turnaround Revitalizing Instant Facial mask, which is a firm favourite of mine - charcoal on the t-zone, turnaround mask on the rest of my face. I do this to get that clear t-zone, radiant complexion result and it just fun slapping on two different masks at once. Check out how to 'Mix & Mask' the Clinique masks here.

But on it's own, the charcoal mask makes my skin fee squeaky clean. No better way for me to describe it. It really cleans the surface as well as the pores that aren't clogged too deeply when I first used it. As for the really stubborn clogged ones, follow ups are needed. It doesn't seem to dry out my skin which is a plus point. I have noticed that it does help balance out the oiliness on my t-zone so I don't get too oily.

If you have combination-oily skin or get clogged easily, it's best to use it twice a week. Otherwise for maintenance once a week works fine. To use, here's what you do, apply a sufficient layer, liberally if you're feeling super clogged, leave it on for 5 to 10 minutes and rinse off with warm water.

Other than this new Clinique Pore Refining Solutions Charcoal Mask, Clinique has a range of masks to choose from for specific concerns if you want to a double mask combo thing. Clinique Pore Refining Solutions Charcoal Mask retails at RM127 (100ml) and is available at Clinique outlets and
