Afternoon Tea at The St. Regis Kuala Lumpur

By 18:31 , ,

I had a really nice tea session with one of my oldest friends last week. I have been wanting to try out the Afternoon Tea at St. Regis since it opened about a little over a month ago and decided that it had to be before fasting started, otherwise I would be thinking about it for another month. It has been a long while since I have posted up anything on dessert but I had to with this one because well, it was pretty.

Afternoon Tea is at the Drawing Room which is a lovely space with a lot of light coming in especially in a bright day. You guessed it, great for photos. It houses a custom-made 5-tier chandelier as well as the specially commissioned horse sculpture by notable Columbian artist, Fernando Botero, the largest sculpture ever made by the artist. It is an amazing sight.

They have a selections of TWG Tea that you can choose from for the set but there are additional choices that will be charge separately if you want to have something different instead. If you are not feeling much for tea, there are also coffee, smoothies and hot chocolate option. I went for the Hot Chocolate, a little bit controversial to some as it is afternoon after all, but I was just feeling like chocolate. It was meant to be served with marshmallows but since they didn't have any when I was there, mine was served with a Praline instead. For a chocolate person, that was even better.

It started off with sandwiches served canapes style with luxurious ingredients - Sweet Wine and Port of Foie Gras on Toasted Brioche; King Crab, Avocado, Sakura Mix, Scottish Smoked Salmon; Chives Crème Fraiche on Rye Bread and Egg Mayonnaise "Melanosporum" Black Truffle. You can also top up the sandwiches if you are keen for a second round. I left the foie gras on brioche as I have never been big on foie gras, but otherwise good flavours overall.

There was a serving of four Cranberry and Plain Scones with Homemade Strawberry Jam and Original English Clotted Cream. The pastries include Hazelnut Choux, Mix Fruits Tartelette, Chocolate Shooter, Homemade Macaron and Raspeberry Cake Pop. The scones and pastries were really good, although it would have been nice if the scones could have been served warm.

The Afternoon Tea is RM140 nett inclusive of 6% GST. It's 3-5pm daily and best to call ahead for a reservation 03-27271111. More info www.stregiskualalumpur.com.
